Tropicana Community Services is so excited to collaborate with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Ontario Black History Society to host a special citizenship ceremony in honour of Black History Month tomorrow at 9:30am (guests arriving at 8:00am)
Canada is lucky to have a significant population of citizens who have originated from all over the world. These global citizens bring with them expertise in a variety of fields and they contribute to the rich tapestry of cultures that Canada has to offer.
To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must:
- Be a permanent resident
- Have lived in Canada for 3 out of the last 5 years
- Have filed your taxes, if you need to
- Pass a test on your rights, responsibilities and knowledge of Canada
- Prove your language skills
As Canadian citizens they will have access to restricted jobs, the right to vote and run for political office and the ability to travel with a Canadian passport. Congratulations to everyone who will be getting their citizenship tomorrow. We are so grateful that you have decided to make Canada your home!
